He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 12 years, Catherine E. Garcia (Smith); daughter Averi Garcia, and sons Grayson and Emerson Garcia; parents Rolando and Amy Garcia (Gonzalez); sister Rhonda Ann Deacon (Gary); brother Roy Salinas; sister Rhanda Ann Lewis (Avery); brother Rene Garcia (Mary Grace). Predeceased by his maternal grandparents Paula A. and Arturo (Curly) Gonzalez; and paternal grandparents Julia M. and Adan L. Garcia; and Uncle Adan M. Garcia Jr.
He will also be dearly missed by his friends at Dow Chemical where he worked for 14 years, the local Legions / Veteran’s Associations in Lake Jackson, Texas; Midland, Michigan, and Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and other veterans he supported through Dow Chemical’s VETNET program.
Rolando was born in Freeport, Texas, where he grew up and graduated from Brazosport High school, attended the University of Texas and Brazosport College before joining the US Army in 1995 where he spent 5 years serving his country. After joining Dow Chemical, Rolando spent time in Lake Jackson, Texas; Midland, Michigan; and Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta plant sites. Rolando was dedicated to his entire family and always put them first. He enjoyed, camping, fishing, golfing, curling, cheering for his favorite sports teams and playing cards with his friends. He always had smile on his face, was incredibly generous, and made everyone around him feel special. He will be missed by many friends and neighbours.
A Funeral Mass for Rolando will be held Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 11:00 AM (MST) at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, 10004 – 101 Street, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, T8L 1V9.
