

Anton “Tony” Stermetz, Jr., 83, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in Fort Smith. He was born February 20, 1928 in Fort Smith to Anton and Theresa Stermetz. He was a retired mechanic from the City of Greenwood. He was a former employee of Sebastian County and Harding Glass Company. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He was a Veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Air Corps. He was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Theresa Stermetz, Sr., two sons Charles R. Wibbing, Jr. and Tony P. (Butch) Stermetz and one sister Margaret Byrd.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, November 28, 2011, at Grace Lutheran Church, 18218 Hw. 71 South, Greenwood, AR with Rev. Jason Zirbel officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, AR. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Lenora, one daughter Carmalita Egbert of Greenwood, three sisters Theresa Deck of Bartlesville, OK, Juanita Wallace of Sarasota, FL and Edith Dennis of Fort Smith, nine grandchildren Gail Stermetz, Wendy Wright, Matthew Stermetz, Breanna Wibbing, Cherylee Wibbing, Danny Egbert, Eliot Egbert, Rance Wibbing and Melanie Ray, eight great grandchildren Tristan Watts, Austin Nelson, Jacob Horton, Amber Egbert, Shiloh Horton, Caiden Smith, Forrest Wibbing and Cage Wibbing, two daughters-in-law Cheryl Stermetz Lang of Little Rock and Cherry Wibbing of Greenwood, two sisters-in-law Betty Dolan and husband Bobby of Fort Smith and Ann Clark of Fort Smith and his precious pet “Paco”.
Pallbearers will be Larry Robertson, Bobby Dolan, David Benge, Jim Sampley, Perry Hirsh and Ward Locklear. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Rice, Frank Brixey and James Gaston.
The family will visit with friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends Monday morning from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall.
