

Betty Ruth Harrison, 86, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017. She was born October 12, 1930 in Greenwood, Arkansas to Alton Ogden Coleman and Ebbie Jewel Jones Coleman. She was a Christian, and she was a faithful member of the South 46th Street church of Christ in Fort Smith. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and caring for her family who will miss her deeply.
She had a happy childhood growing up on the family farm with her parents and her brother Aaron Wendell Coleman. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1948. She then continued her education at Draughon’s Business College and thereafter began working as a secretary in Fort Smith.
She met the love of her life, William Donald Harrison of Fort Smith, and the two were married on August 25, 1962. When children came along, she stopped her secretarial work to care for her family at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband, and her infant son Bradley Wayne Harrison.
Betty is survived by two sons, Colton Blake Harrison of Fort Smith and Kelton Brent Harrison of Conway; her daughter-in-law Summer Dawn Padgett Harrison of Conway and three grandchildren: Jaden Stone, Sterling Valor, and Arden Haven.
A special thank you to Hailey Marcus and Michaela Avaritt for all the time and love they shared with Betty over the past few months.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, January 23, 2017 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Cemetery. Following the burial, the family will host a reception in the Creekmore Park Community Room. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
