

Betty Joyce Henry, 68, of Fort Smith, entered into rest on September 25, 2010, with her family surrounding her, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born February 20, 1942, in Okay, Oklahoma to Edward Lee and Edna Boling Lasater. She graduated from Okay High School, where she loved and excelled at basketball. After leaving Okay she moved to Fort Smith where she made her home. She retired from Sparks Regional Medical Center after more than 30 years of service. Betty loved to garden, travel, read, fish and she loved her grandchildren around her. She was the perfect daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband James Henry of the home, three sons, Richard Lee Diemert and companion Gwen Bullington of Fort Smith, Thomas Mitchell Diemert and wife Lynn of Fort Smith, and Allen Wayne Diemert and wife Kathy of Van Buren; two daughters, Deborah Joyce Brehmer and husband Kevin of Paragould, AR and Krishna Lea Armstrong of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Robert Hartmeier and wife Christa, Jennifer Haggard and husband Scott, Diana Marsden, Emily Hartmeier, Samantha Rackleff, Heath Diemert and wife Patricia, Kayla Martin and husband Carlos and Kyle Diemert. Great Grandchildren, Jaden Diemert, Khalei Diemert, Alexander Marsden, Carlos Edward III, and Heather Diemert; family friend Mark Armstrong and two very special people, Zachary Bates and Powell Sanders; five sisters, Ethel Mae Harbison of Muskogee, OK., Opal June Smith of Okay, OK., Elizabeth Marie Shelton of Hartshorne, OK., Vesta Cleo Laster of Muskogee, OK., and Sondra Lynn Fowler of Okay, OK; one brother, James Edward Lasater of Okay, OK; twenty eight living nieces and nephews and a great number of friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Allen Diemert, her parents, Edward Lee and Edna Boling Lasater; two sisters, Ina Faye Jean Lasater and Annabell Lasater; two brothers, Earnest Lee Lasater and Dale Wayne Lasater and four infant brothers as well as four nieces.
Memorial service will be Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation and Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5-7 PM
