

Bill Carden Byers, 73 of Cookson, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He received his Bachelors degree in Biology and Math from the College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR; Masters in Biology from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma and worked toward his Doctorate at the University of Oklahoma. He was a teacher at Northside High School in the 60’s. He was the Engineering Superintendent at McGuire Shaft and Tunnel then later became the Vice President of Production at Tate Container. He returned to teaching at Northside in the late 80’s where he concluded his 25 year teaching career. He then retired to Cookson, Oklahoma. He loved Razorback Sports and the NFL and also loved being on the Lake, boating, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents the Reverend William Leonard Byers and Naomi Carden Byers and a brother L. Norris Byers.
Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday February 27th at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
He is survived by his long time companion and love of his life Angel Dye; daughter Dalana Lea Nugent of Farmington, son Bill Hendrix Byers of Rogers; sister Carol Sue Byers; two grandchildren Michael Andrew Nugent of Conway and “L.B.” Bill Hoffman Byers of Rogers; and great granddaughter Zoey Madison Nugent of Conway.
Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 26th at the funeral home.
