Billy Gene (“Pop Pop”) Wehunt passed away due to natural causes September 27, 2012 in Tomball, Texas leaving behind his wife, Doris, of over 53 years, his daughter, Carole, and his two sons, John and Larry, and five grandchildren. Born into a family with three older brothers, Billy was a true American hero born on the Fourth of July, 1932, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He distinguished himself in both the Korean and Vietnam wars during his twenty-three years of honorary military service. Billy was loved by young and old, especially by his grandchildren who named him “Pop Pop”, and he is already dearly missed.
Graveside service for Billy will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2012, at Fort Smith National Cemetery Pavilion with Full Military Honors under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith Arkansas.
