Carol Ann’s tale began in 1935, four days before Christmas, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was born to Anna Marie Gribble and Alfred Joseph Wolk. Eighteen years later she graduated from Lorain (Ohio) High School. Shortly thereafter, Carol moved to Fort Smith to live with her mother and stepfather, Jim White. On March 25, 1955 she married Buddy Westphal. Carol was a member of First Lutheran Church for seven decades. She was a secretary at the Hawkins Company for four decades and a longtime member of TOPS. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, an author, and so much more. And she wrangled four sons to adulthood.
Carol’s temporal story ended at her longtime home in Fort Smith, July 10, 2023. She will never be forgotten by her sons Danny of Round Rock, Texas, Marty of Fort Smith, Bernie of Van Buren, and Jimmy of Hawaii; her grandchildren Clayton, Shawn, Michael, Nicholas, Erin, and Chaney; seven great-grandchildren; and her extended family and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, brother Ron Wolk, and grandson Ben.
