

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, July 24 at St. Boniface Church in Fort Smith. Rev. Mark Nolte will be presiding; concelebrants are Right Rev. Jerome Kodell of Subiaco Abbey, Rev. Jason Sharbaugh and Rev. Walter Nolte of Omaha. Burial will follow the funeral at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Prayer services will also be held at St. Boniface, beginning with visitation at 4:30 with a Vigil at6:30 on Thursday evening, July 23. General viewing will be held at Fentress Mortuary on Sunday, July 19 from 8AM to 8PM.
Catherine was born in Altus on May 6, 1928, to John Udouj Sr. and Katherine Wiederkehr Udouj. After graduating from St. Scholastica Academy in 1946, she worked for Berry Dry Goods, Coca Cola Company and eventually took on the honorable profession of homemaker after marrying Al Nolte on Aug 13, 1949. The couple owned and operated the White Spot Café on Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith for 32 years. In her spare time, Catherine raised their 10 children with the patience of Job and the heart of Our Blessed Mother.
Catherine, along with her sister, Terry Olsen, was instrumental in finding supporters and facilities to establish Fort Smith’s first Adoration Chapel dedicated to the Divine Mercy, providing the faithful with a chapel open 24 hours/7 days a week devoted to Eucharistic Adoration. In her continued devotion to serving the Lord and others, she was an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister for Mercy Hospital. Catherine was an avid golfer for many years and enjoyed a challenging match of Words with Friends and card games with close friends and family later in life. Her greatest joy was being in the presence of her family.
Catherine is survived by her 10 children, Carla Wagner, Nick Nolte and his wife Peggy, Libby Nolte, Kathy Baumann and her husband Tim, Bob Nolte and his wife Karen, Mike Nolte, Fr. Mark Nolte, Julie Lewis and her husband Mark, Cari Burgess and her husband Johnny and Fr. Walter Nolte; 18 grandchildren, Lisken, Caleb, and Sarah Wagner, Maggie and Allie Nolte, Nicole Arnold, Nathan Williams, Sam Berry Jr., Catherine Teetor, Ben Baumann, Chris and Alex Nolte, Isaac and Gabby Lewis, Madison and Jack Nichols and Ashley and Jarrett Burgess; 10.7 great-grandchildren; her sister Terry Olsen, numerous nieces and nephews; and the rest of her family and friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Al Nolte, grandson, Jordan Lewis, parents and brothers John Jr., Rudy, Al, Herman, Henry, and Carl Udouj.
Pallbearers will be Tim Baumann, John Burgess, Caleb Wagner, Mark Lewis, Isaac Lewis, Christopher and Alex Nolte, Jack Nichols, Nathan Williams, Sam Berry, and Ben Bauman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Subiaco Academy – The Walter H. Nolte Scholarship Fund; St. Boniface Parish, Fort Smith, AR; St. Bernard Parish, Omaha, NE; or St. Edward Parish, Nashville, TN.
