Chester E. Avis, 93, of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in West Monroe, LA at the home of his oldest son. He was born July 12, 1931, in Akron, Ohio. He was a retired Electronics Engineer. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He loved building model airplanes and working calculus problems. He dearly loved and was dearly loved by his family. More than anything he loved and served the LORD with everything he was and had.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, at the Pavilion at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with burial to follow at U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by one daughter, Caressa Avis of Fort Smith, three sons, Carvel Avis of West Monroe, LA, Craig Avis of Fort Smith, AR and Chris Avis of Sallisaw, OK, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
