Davey “Speedy” Sumners, 80, passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 in a Fort Smith hospital. “Speedy” was born October 13, 1929 in Fort Smith to Erma and Floyd Sumners. He graduated from Kemper Military Academy and the University of Arkansas. He served in the U S Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was the long time owner and operator of the Sally Ann Market and Liquors. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Kay Wilcoxen.
He is survived by his wife, Iris of Fort Smith; and four sons, Davey Sumners and wife Sally of Idaho Falls, ID, Robert Sumners of Fort Smith, Randall Sumners of Fort Smith and Charles Sumners of Fort Smith.
Graveside funeral service will be Friday, June 18, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Roselawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 5:30-7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home. All arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
