David Victor Albertson of Fort Smith passed from this life on Sunday, September 13, 2015, in Oklahoma City at the age of 66. Services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home this Thursday at 1 PM, followed by interment at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith at 2 PM. Visitation will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5 PM to 7PM. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor David should make charitable donations in his name to the St. Edwards NICU or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
David worked for St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center, where he was a biomedical electronics technician for 24 years. He proudly served his country as a member of both the United States Air Force and the Arkansas Air National Guard, retiring at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant after 26 years. He was also a Mason and was the Past Master of Temple Lodge #755 of Fort Smith.
Preceded in death by his parents, “Doc” Floyd and Betty Lou Peoples, and his granddaughter, Ravenna Albertson, all of Fort Smith, David leaves behind too many loved ones to ever mention them all. He will be particularly missed by his brothers: Kevin Peoples of Fort Smith (and his wife Leisa, daughter Bethany, and sons Brandon and Bryan); Ronald Puckett of Nickerson, Kansas; and half-brother Keith Albertson (and wife Christy) of Cabot. He also leaves behind his cherished wife, Carla Albertson; his only son, Bryce Albertson; and his granddaughter and “favorite person ever” Victoria Albertson.
Full of love for family and friends, David spent his life enjoying their company, laughing with them, counseling them, hunting and fishing with them, and “calling the Hogs” with them. He was always willing and able to fix their cars, fix their breakfast, and fix their hearts when they were breaking.
While David was thankful to all of his friends and family for sharing their lives with him, he was thankful most to The Lord for the gifts He gave him: the strength to fight for what he believed in, the beauty in simple things, and the love that filled his heart for the many who will miss him.
Now, after a life of service, David goes to meet his Lord and Savior. Most likely, the first thing he will ask Him is how he can be of help.
