Diane Marlene Gomez peacefully passed away Christmas morning. Diane is survived by her loving son and daughter, Douglas Gomez and Marlene Manzi, and her three cherished grandchildren Michael Veal, Kirstie Gomez, and Marc Veal.
Diane was born and grew up in San Gabriel, California. It was there that she would marry and start a family. In her career, she stood out for her technical adeptness and was selected to master and later train staff on workplace computers which were in the earliest stages of adoption by large corporations. She loved the challenge and was always at the forefront as new technology emerged. Later in life, she and her mother would move to Fort Smith, Arkansas to be closer to her father. She quickly fell in love with Fort Smith and made it her permanent home, easily making lifelong friends. Diane was known and admired for her many qualities.
She possessed a keen intellect, photographic memory, and an eloquent knack in both verbal and written communications. She was feminine, humble, graceful, and humorous. A favorite past time for her and her family had her seated at her piano playing and singing hymns or Christmas music together. Music always held a prominent role in her life and, for her, Christian music ministered even more than a good sermon. Diane was a selfless and loving woman. She harbored no ill will towards others; it seems her heart made no room for that. Perhaps, that is a testimony to her first love in the person, the Lord Jesus Christ. Diane was unabashed in her love and devotion to Him. She once shared a long-held desire, that when the day arrived for her to meet her Lord that He would be there to greet her. That He would take her by the hand and walk with her. On Christmas morning, her dream came true.
