Donnie "Mitch" Joe Mitchell

Donnie Joe (Mitch) Mitchell, 75, of Spiro, OK, passed away on March 19, 2021. He was born June 5, 1945 in Mansfield, Arkansas to Harold Mitchell and Helen Jewel Bobbitt Mitchell. Mitch was a United States Air Force Veteran. After serving his stint in the Air Force, he worked as undersheriff in Plentywood, MT. He then joined the Border patrol and retired in 2002, after 30 years in law enforcement.

Mitch was always happy restoring his 69 Chevy Pickup. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, he especially enjoyed his hunting trips to San Angelo, TX. Happiness for Mitch was being outside on his John Deere mowing, chasing his wife around the yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by loving wife Margaret Mitchell, one son, Johnathan Bowen and companion Callyn Snyder of Rogers; one step-daughter, Alisha Higgins and companion, Cody Gray of Poteau, OK; four sisters, Betty Hale of Greenwood, Patricia Mitchell of Fort Smith, Shirley Golofski and husband Marty of Fort Smith, Joyce Dodson and husband Glen of Erick, OK; two grandchildren, Cash Jerrell and Josie Gray; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery. Viewing will be 5 PM till 7 PM, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home.
