Dorothy Harvell

Dorothy Faye Harvell, 86, of Roland, OK died May 13, 2013 in Sallisaw, OK. She was born September 22, 1926 in Tulsa, OK to Fay and Ruth English. She started to work right out of high school at Kress 5 & 10 store then she worked for Wards Furniture and Shipley Motor Company while taking college course at night. She then opened the first Tag Agency in Roland, Ok and served in that business for 22 years. Following that she worked in the Child Support Division of the District Attorney Office for 6 years. In 1993 she was appointed Sequoyah County Election Board Secretary where she worked until her retirement in June 2001 at the age of 75. She was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church, a past member of the Sequoyah County Democratic Women’s Club and the American business Women’s Association. She is survived by four sisters, Ann and husband Cliff Broussard of Roland, Beulah and husband Glen Hosier of Van Buren, Carol Holt of Sallisaw, and Marilyn and husband Lloyd Satterfield of Wagoner, OK; one brother, Don and wife Linda English of Fort Smith and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman Harvell, her parents, Fay and Ruth English, brother Jerry English and sister Mary Alice English-Hammack. Funeral service will be Thursday May 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
