

Edward W. Walker, Jr., 79, of Fort Smith, passed from this life November 14, 2018 at his home in Fort Smith. He was born September 18, 1939, in Alma, to the late Edward, Sr. and Ollie Parker Walker. After completing school, Edward enlisted in the United States Navy. While stationed in Hawaii, he met the love of his life, his late wife Alice. After many stations and vessels, Edward retired, after 20 years, with the rank of Machinist’s Mate First Class. After retirement, he moved his family back to Arkansas where he went to work for the Whirlpool Corporation, and later retired from there as well.
He is survived by his daughter, Everie Ross of Arkoma; two sons, Hiram Walker of Fort Smith and Edward Walker, III of Lebanon, Tennessee; two sisters, Kay Wilkinson and Patsy Stanford; three grandchildren, Corey, Kaliegh and Courtney Walker; as well as two great grandchildren, Brayden and Landon Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a daughter, Edie Waynette Walker; one sister, Wilma Steinsik; as well as two brothers, M.M. “Sonny” Walker and Charlie Walker.
A graveside service, with U.S. Navy Honors will be at 11:00am Monday, November 19, 2018 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00pm Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
