

Eland H. Simpson, 92, of Fort Smith, passed away Thursday, December 6th, 2012, in Springfield, MO. He was born on June 8th, 1920 in Ozark, AR to the late Elbert and Cora Simpson. He was a retired Route Salesman for Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Fort Smith. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of First Baptist Church, member of the Gerald Cross & Bill Edwards Sunday School Class and a member of the Golden Eagles Camping Club. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the 410th Army Air Forces Base Unit. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 10th, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Thompson and Rev. Mark Weaver Officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by one daughter Judy Day and her husband Bill of Roland, OK, one son Ron Simpson and his wife Julia of Barling, AR, one brother Murray Simpson of Fort Smith, five granddaughters Sarah Barton of Springdale, AR, Dr. Chanda Houts of Tallassee, AL, Lorie Bell of Broken Arrow, OK, Kelley Fitting of Arlington, TX Megan Poarch of Yukon, OK and eleven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Bell, Kirby Barton, Jonathan Fitting, Brad Poarch, Bill Day and James Walters. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gerald Cross and Bill Edwards Sunday School Class.
The family will visit with friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
