Esther E. McConnell

The angels came down and carried Esther E. McConnell to her home in heaven, after a long awaited time. She is now with her Lord and in His perfect place. Esther E. McConnell, 101, of Fort Smith, went to be with her Lord September 16, 2014, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born June 14, 1913, in Denver, Colorado, to Loreley David and Katherine Goodwin Oliphant. She was a member of First Christian Church and P.E.O. International. Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Col. U.S. McConnell, DVM, her parents and her brother, Loreley David Oliphant, Jr. She is survived by her son, George Stanley McConnell of Roswell, New Mexico; her daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Gregory of Fort Smith, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Lori Lee Lyons, Daniel Benet Gregory, Damon Marcel Gregory, Valerie Elizabeth Gray, Cheryl Lynn Hart and Michael Gerrard Gregory, as well as 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00am Friday, September 19, 2014 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Fort Smith National Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm Thursday, September 18, 2014 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to P.E.O.
