Eunice Marion Schroeder

Eunice M. Schroeder, 95, of Fort Smith died February 5, 2015 in Fort Smith. She was born February 28, 1919 in Lenox, Iowa. She graduated from Queen of Angels in Los Angeles in 1946 as a nurse. She returned to Iowa to practice nursing at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center. There she meet Keith Schroeder while he was a patient and they married in 1949. They had one daughter Cygnet Schroeder Bise. They were married until Keith’s death in 2006. Later in Eunice’s career she taught nursing at the Des Moines Area Community college. She and Keith enjoyed traveling and visited most of the places he was stationed during World War II. After Keith’s death in 2006 Eunice relocated to be close with her family in Fort Smith. She was a vital part of her grandchildren’s lives, Keith, Claire, and Michael Bise as well as daughter and son-in-law Cygnet and Roger Bise who feel blessed to have had her love and support, and could not have managed without her. She embraced the move writing a new chapter in life but did not forget her Des Moines friends. She will be missed by her second family in Fort Smith, Tony, Lynelle, and Arden Leraris as well as her daughter’s extended family Kiran, Jim, and Gavin Hahn.
