

Evelyn O. “Teddy” Martin, 88, of Greenwood, formerly of Fort Smith, passed from this life April 21, 2014 in Greenwood. She was born August 20, 1925 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Joseph and Alta Morris Clark. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a member at Immanuel Baptist Church. Teddy lived life to its fullest until she became ill. She was a wonderful cook! She was always willing to share her delicious food with family and friends, including sharing her ‘famous’ candy with her friends in the Radiology Department of St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, where she volunteered for many years. Along with her husband, Earl, she enjoyed their antique car collection. They were active members of the Fort Smith Antique Car Club. Teddy was an avid Razorback fan, collecting memorabilia as well as faithfully supporting the Hogs, win or lose. She collected Teddy Bears. Her vast collection was at one time the subject of an article in the Southwest Times Record. Teddy and Earl loved to travel and enjoyed visiting many parts of the U.S. after retirement. They also visited London, and took two cruises with their oldest granddaughter and her family in their 80’s. She enjoyed her involvement in the Telephone Pioneers of America where she held several leadership positions. Teddy was a dog lover from the beginning. She owned several dogs and was totally devoted to each one of them. She was known for her beautiful penmanship and was a volunteer in addressing letters for the presidential campaign of Bill Clinton. Teddy was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Rick Martin, a sister Gracie Pumphrey and her brother Bobby Joe Clark. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Earl D. Martin; her daughter-in-law, Gail Martin Gilmore and her husband Charlie of Greenwood; her sister, Lee Minor of Tulsa; a brother David Clark and his wife Jaynie of Russellville; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Clark; two granddaughters Kara Ault and her husband Rick and Beth Clark and her husband Scott; three great grandchildren, Aubrey and Kinley Ault and LeAnna Johnson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her care giver Anita Dobbins. Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday, April 25, 2014 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at 1:00pm Friday at Fort Smith National Cemetery. The family will greet friends, prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30am. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
