

FLOY MARIE LEE, 95, of Ft. Smith passed away peacefully on February 4, 2011, at a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Allen and Nora (Brown) Jones, her husband, George Herbert Lee, six brothers and two sisters. She was born on May 12, 1915, north of Dover, Arkansas. At age 16 she lost her mother and promptly took over housekeeping, cooking, and caring for her family. At the same time she was an outstanding student at Dover High School. In 1933 she married George Lee, and they moved to Fort Smith. They lived 37 wonderful years together and raised four children before he passed away in 1970.
For the next 40 years she focused most of her time on her children and grandchildren. They all gathered at “Granny’s” house every Sunday for her delicious home cooking. Her fried chicken, roast beef, and chocolate cake are legendary. She was always available to babysit, care for the sick, welcome relatives for overnight visits, drive kids to school, and to help friends, neighbors or relatives in any way she could. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She loved to work in her abundant garden and with her beautiful flowers. She left many wonderful memories. Among them are her kind heart, her thoughtful manner, and her loving ways.
She was a member of Westark Church of Christ and DAR.
She is survived by two daughters, Nora Lou Miller of Van Buren and Vicki Lee of Fort Smith; two sons, Roger and wife Pat, and Van and wife Judy of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren; Kelley Robinson, Kristy Hanson, Dwayne Lee, Tonya Lundstrum, Julianne Bartlett, Jennifer Bryant, Geoffrey Wayne, and Alexander Wayne. She is also survived by 18 Great-Grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends who love her.
The family will welcome friends and relatives at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith from 5 to 7 pm on Monday February 7. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Tuesday, February 8, at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with Pastor Barry Morton officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent Lundstrum, Jay Maze, Alexander Wayne, Geoffrey Wayne, Marshall Robinson, Teryl Robinson.
