Greg had a playful spirit that brought joy to all who knew him – especially to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who never turned down a chance to play fight with their “PaPa.”
He loved comic books and sci-fi. A practical joker at heart, his light-hearted pranks and adventures ensured laughter followed him wherever he went.
Greg valued hard work and dedication, retiring from Gerber Fort Smith after a 26-year career. Even in his youth he put those skills to work in the Boy Scouts of America, where he grew his love of learning, exploring, and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Putman and his brother, David Putman.
Greg is survived by a loving family: his wife of 37 years, Paula Gooch Putman; children, Tristan, Cory, Matthew, Adam, Madelyn Ulrich, Miranda, John, and Madison Putman; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and four brothers and sisters, Laurel Thomas, Ann Vaughn, Kathy Putman, and John Putman.
A funeral service will be held at Edwards Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Edwards Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
As we remember Greg, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and the simple joys that made his life well-lived.
