Guy H. Atchison, 85, of Van Buren, died April 10, 2011 in Fort Smith. He retired as Assistant Fire Chief for the Fort Smith Fire Department, was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict and he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Van Buren. He was born February 23, 1926 in Dardanelle, AR to Guy and Eva Bray Atchison.
He is survived by his wife Velva Atchison of Van Buren; two sons, Jerry and wife Terrie Atchison of Tulsa, OK and Jimmy and wife Cindy Atchison of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Fentress Mortuary Chapel 1805 North “A” Street with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery, with Fort Smith Fire Department Honors, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be members of the Fort Smith Fire Department.
The family will greet friends at Fentress Mortuary on Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM
