Haskell F Jefferies Jr. died Dec 7th 2025 at the age of 98. He was born June 30, 1927 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and reared in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He joined the Army/Air Force in 1946 and retired in 1966 having spent the majority of his service at Castle AFB in Atwater, CA. Following his retirement, he continued working within the aircraft industry for Boeing Corporation in Seattle, WA and Tehran, Iran. Thereafter, he worked for Northrup Corporation in Jetta, Saudi Arabia. In 1989 ,he moved to Fort Smith ,Arkansas. He then became a volunteer conductor on the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad excursion train where he extolled the passengers with the history of the area. He was honored at age 90 to be deemed the oldest active conductor in the nation. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 88 years, Ernestine, his daughter Wilma and son-in-law Philip Solberg , his brothers Raymond and Larry Jeffries. and his grandsons Zachary and Jacob Solberg.
