

Helen Kay Skinner White, 75, of Fort Smith, passed from this life June 21, 2016 in Fort Smith. She was born April 6, 1941, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to the late Robert Lee and Katharine Harris Skinner. Helen Kay was a 1959 graduate of Central High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A year later, she married her late husband, Jack W. White. As a Navy wife, and afterwards, while Jack built his career with OG&E, she was no stranger to moving and establishing home. She was a floral designer for Gerdes Garden Center and loved flowers and gardening. One of her loves was playing Bridge. She traveled to Poteau frequently to play with her friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Neuman and husband Chuck of Fort Smith; six grandchildren, Kristin Cuellar, Mallory Sitz and husband Will, Autumn Neuman, CJ Neuman, Heather and Zach Willett and Nguyet Nguyen; two great grandchildren, William Sitz and Kenadee Willett; sisters-in-law, Betty and John Blakeslee of Muskogee, Margaret Palmieri of Muskogee, Karen and Jim Barrett of Farmers Branch, Texas, Jeanne White of London, Ohio and Dailene White of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law, David and Pam White of Muskogee and Ben Green of Amarillo, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews as well as her furry companion, Boomer.
Graveside services will be 12:00pm Friday, June 24, 2016 at U.S. National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family requests donations be made, in Helen’s name, to Fountain of Youth Adult Day Center, 2801 McKinley Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72908. Helen loved attending the senior center and was lovingly cared for by all of the staff.
