

James Daniel (Danny) Roebuck of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 in Fort Smith, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 10, 1934 in Pine Bluff, AR and moved to Fort Smith when he was 10 years old. He was the son of Dr. Fred G. Roebuck and Blanche Stokes Roebuck.
Danny graduated from Fort Smith High School and Southern Methodist University (SMU). In June of 1956 he married Missy (Myra) Armstrong. After working for ABF as VP of Transportation, he was appointed Director of the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission (AIDC) by Governor Dale Bumpers and moved his family to Little Rock. He spent the rest of his career in the trucking industry and the family lived in El Paso, TX, Scottsdale, AZ and Walnut Creek, CA before returning to Fort Smith. Danny was a lifetime supporter and volunteer with the Fort Smith Library, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he sang joyfully in the choir for almost 30 years. He enjoyed quiet hours watching the birds, and nourished an abiding love for literature, music, and the arts.
Danny is survived by his wife, Missy Roebuck; his daughter Cynthia Roebuck of Durango, CO, granddaughter Page Buono (Garrett Hanks) of Taos, NM, grandson Andrew Buono (Caitlin) of Tucson, AZ; his son James Daniel (Bucky) Roebuck, Jr. of Little Rock, AR, granddaughters Mary Frances Roebuck and Rebecca Roebuck; sister Virginia Roebuck of Camden, AR; brother Lewis Roebuck (Patsy) of Scottsdale, AZ, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be at 2:00PM, Saturday, April 23rd at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith.
Memorial gifts may be sent to the Fort Smith Public Library, First Presbyterian Church or the Sack Lunch program at Saint John’s Episcopal Church.
