

Reba Jeanenne (Tate) Boyett of Fort Smith was born near Galatia, Illinois, February 21, 1936 to Egbert and Delta Tate. She attended a one room schoolhouse at Hamburg, IL through the 8th grade. She graduated from Galatia High School in 1952 and from Southern Illinois University in 1956 with a degree in Home Economics. On June 14, 1959, she married Richard (Dick) Eugene Boyett; they were married for 57 years. She worked in the Fort Smith School System for 30 years.
Jean is survived by her husband, Dick Boyett; son, Joe Lee Boyett and wife Jeannie and granddaughter, Brittany; son, Jeff Boyett and wife Shannon and granddaughters, Mattie and Emma; and son, Kenneth Dale Boyett and wife Chava and grandsons, Tate and Jett. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Andrea Boyett; close friend, Judy Sparks; younger brother, Dale Tate and his wife Brenda; and sister-in-law, Beverly Scheu.
Jean was known for her homestyle country cooking, for being a champion golfer and for her love of boating on Lake Ouachita. Jean had a strong Christian faith, was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a member of her church Small Group that held her in high esteem.
Visitation will be at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Saturday, August 13th, 5-7pm. Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Monday, August 15th at 10am.
