Jean O. Farris

Jean O. Farris, 92, of Fort Smith, died Thursday, December 13, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was born January 26, 1920, in Akins, OK, to the late Robert and Gertha Franks Gillis. She was a seamstress for R H Burhke and a member of East Side Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Connie and Eddie Leonard, of Fort Smith; a son and daughter in law, Larry and Alice Farris, of Fort Smith; a sister, Emma Sue Presley, of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Greg Farris and wife Janelle, Doug Farris and wife Brenda, Staci Skinner and husband Michael and Amy Schmalz and husband Kevin; eight great grandchildren, Nathan, Danielle, Sarah and Tanner Farris, Tyler and Cody Schmalz and Ashton and Alex Skinner. She is preceded in death by her husband Alva Farris; a granddaughter, Courtney Dawn Leonard and two brothers, Robert “Toots” Gillis and William “Toby” Gillis. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM, Monday, December 17, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Home chapel, with burial following at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00PM, Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
