

Jerry was born in Mt. Victory, Ohio, on May 14, 1942, to Pearl A. Boyd and Fern Dean Tippie Boyd. He was raised in Ohio with his sisters and brother: Peggy Wiley (late), Judy Wingfield, and Jim Boyd (late). He graduated in 1960 from Mt. Victory – Dudley High School and attended Columbus Ohio School of Business.
Jerry joined the United States Air Force in January 1964, serving in Okinawa and Vietnam with the military air transport. Deeply patriotic, he loved his country.
On December 26, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, June Ann Monson.
Employed by Whirlpool Corporation in Marion and Findlay, Ohio. He transferred to Fort Smith, Arkansas as the District Warehouse Manager. Jerry and June moved their young family of three children to Arkansas in the spring of 1978.
Jerry had a deep faith with God joining First Presbyterian Church in 1979. Where he continued to serve the church on the session, and various committees: Congregational Life, Personnel, Trustee and Chairman of the renovations of the sanctuary in 2004.
His love for the Fort Smith community was evident serving on the Board of the Interfaith Preschool leading the rebuilding of the Interfaith Preschool following the tornado of 1996.
Jerry was dedicated to the golf community serving as the tournament director of the Ben I. Mayo Junior Golf Invitational for seven years. He also served as the Director of Operations for the Nike Fort Smith Classic Tournament and on the Board of the Fort Smith First Tee program. Other organizations benefiting from his leadership were Habitat for Humanity, where he served on the board of the Transportation Club of Fort Smith, and The Antique Automobile Club.
From his early youth, Jerry loved automobiles. As a youth he would sit in the 1950’s Thunderbirds at the Mt. Victory dealership. He loved to buy and sell cars and would go to car dealerships just to look and barter prices. He loved to study cars, watch car shows, and when he built a 1929 Model A Ford pickup truck, it was his ultimate dream come true.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, June Ann Boyd, and his three children: Jill Roughley of Fayetteville; Julie Moore (Chris) of Black Mountain, NC; and Jeff Boyd (Keri) of Springdale, AR. His four grandchildren were his pride and joy: Drew Roughley of Dallas, TX; Lauren Roughley of Fayetteville; Caroline Boyd of Springdale; and Carlee Boyd of Springdale. Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved to hear his grandkids call him Poppy. He was loved and admired by his family and many friends.
Deeply loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, family members and close friends. Jerry was the epitome of the American dream where faith, hard work, determination, respect and a commitment to family and community rewarded Jerry in his relationship, friendships, and career.
A private family military service will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith, 116 N 12th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901, on January 24, 2026 at 11:00am.
