Jerry Alan Yarbrough

Jerry Alan Yarbrough was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on October 5, 1938, to Cecil and Lucille Brewer Yarbrough. After graduating Fort Smith High School, Jerry attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning a Science Bachelor Chemical Engineering degree. He then moved to Chicago and while working, first at Sinclair Research Laboratories and later at Crane Company, he attended the University of Chicago where he received his MBA in Financial Analysis.

After eight years in Chicago, Jerry returned to Fort Smith. From 1968 until his retirement in 2004 he was employed by Arkansas Best Corporation where through the years he held some twelve positions, the first of which was Director, Economic Analysis, and the most rewarding of which was Senior Vice President of Operations for ABF (now ArcBest).

In 2016 Jerry married Mary Suffudy with whom he lived joyfully until his death on January 27th. Jerry is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Yarbrough. He is survived by his wife and by his son Ethan, daughter-in-law Tara and grandson Lance Yarbrough of Fayetteville; daughter Greta Yarbrough and son-in-law Timothy Rooney of Anchorage, Alaska, and sister June and brother-in-law Mike DeWitt of Fort Smith.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith on Monday, February 3rd at 10:00 A.M.
