

Joe Thomas Pierce, 86, of Fort Smith, died July 31, 2010 in Fort Smith. He was retired from Riverside Furniture as Vice President of Manufacturing, a member of the Elks Club, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II during campaigns in Central Europe, Rhineland, Normandy, and Northern France, after which he was awarded a Bronze Star.
He is survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Glenda Del Pierce of the home; one son, Joe Steven and wife Nancy Pierce of Fort Smith; one brother, Jim Pierce and wife Linda of Placentia, CA; two grandchildren, Michelle and husband Dr. Monte Butler, and Morgan and wife Hollie Pierce all of Fort Smith; and four great grandchildren, Austin and Adam Pierce and Abbey and Emily Butler and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Don and Jeff Plunkett, Randy, Larry, and Eric Graham, Randy Manus, Austin and Adam Pierce, and Steve Kelton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Rhodes, Champ Hinton, Ronnie Udouj, Ron Powell, and Roger Wood.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM
