

John William Hampton Died December 16, 2014. He was born on November 3, 1934 to Toney and Lucille Hampton in Fort Smith, Arkansas. John was the third child in the family. He lived most of his life in Fort Smith, the City he loved. Upon graduation from High School, he joined the U.S. Air force serving in California and Europe, receiving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served until 1955, receiving medals for National Defense Service and Good Conduct.
Upon his return to Arkansas, John worked in the steel industry until health forced his retirement.
As an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, John could be found most weekends in front of the television with his friends at Hopes Creek in Van Buren watching college football, basketball or baseball, depending upon the season.
He was preceded by his parents, his brother Tony and his sister Anna. John is survived by his niece, Dorothy A. Bowen (Stephen) of Pendleton, Oregon and their family and his nephew, Don Hampton (Diane) of Creve Coure, Missouri and their family.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
