Johnetta (Price) Eckford

She was born to Harvey Paul (H. P.) Price Jr. and Eleanor Irene (Johnson) Price on March 20 1949, in Mercedes, Texas. Johnetta grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Wichita Public Schools.

At the age of 21, Johnetta left Wichita for Enid, OK. In Enid, she taught preschool at Booker T Washington. Sometime after teaching, Johnetta left Enid for Denver, CO. There she pursued her own business venture and opened up a childcare center. She then left Denver for Fort Smith, AR. There she opened up another childcare center, Home Sweet Home. Sometime after that she retired and was a homemaker until she passed.

Johnetta loved to read, write poems and books. She also loved to knit. She had a passion for her plants, she had a green thumb. She was a good friend to many people. She will be greatly missed.

Johnetta Eckford is survived by David Falls, longtime partner, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her daughter Monna Grant, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Her sons: Edward Price, Denver, Colorado; Jason McDonald, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Siblings: Earl Love, Byers, Oklahoma; Paul Love and Cheri, Wichita, Kansas; Rickey Love and Linda, Wichita, Kansas; Kenneth Love and Nicki, Wichita, Kansas; Iretta Thomas and William, Wichita, Kansas; Jeffrey love of Wichita Kansas. Grandchildren; Aaron Grant, Aaliyah Grant, Nelson Tawasha, Jania Walker McDonald, Ja’cee McDonald. Great grandchildren; Aaliana Grant, Wynter Grant, Anthony Brock Jr. A host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father, H.P. Harvey Price, mother Eleanor Irene Love; siblings Clifford Price, Lucille Price, Melvin Price, Melva Cunningham, and Mattie Price.

Visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 5pm-7pm at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas 72901. Funeral Services will be on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 10am at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Herbert Hardman. Interment will be at Oak Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Grant, David Falls, Kenny Love, Earl Love, Jeffrey Love, Cecil Fraser, Ricky Love and Paul Love.
