

Jonathan “Jon” Trimble left this world to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday night, January 4, 2012. Jon was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. His kind and generous heart will never be forgotten.
He was born in Bakersfield, CA, June 23, 1949, growing up mostly in Oklahoma. His parents Don and Joann Trimble preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of over 31 years and his “buddy” Teddy of the home, his brother Brad Trimble and wife Connie, sisters Donna Boon and Susanne Hamil, his nephews Brian Boon, Kevin and Shawn Hamil, Michael Trimble, and Kevin Cochran, nieces Kristi Kronstad, Misti Stover, and Michelle Crotts, two aunts, many cousins and friends.
Jon served proudly in the US Navy from 1969 to 1975 and went on to graduate from Abilene Christian University. He later began working for the State of Oklahoma Employment Services, first as an auditor, then as a Veteran’s representative until he retired in 2002. He became actively involved in the Disabled American Veterans organization, serving as Post Commander in the Muskogee, OK Chapter, then as Post Commander in the Fort Smith Chapter. He received numerous service awards and recognition for his services. He worked long and hard helping disabled veterans over the years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 62. He was a true American with great compassion and patriotism for his country. He was also OU’s number one fan.
He was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ in Greenwood. His spiritual strength has guided him through a difficult illness and he is at peace resting with God.
Visitation will be at Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 PM, with services at Valley View Church of Christ in Greenwood at 12:30 PM Monday, January 9, 2012. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery, Fort Smith with Military Honors at 2:00 PM Monday under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Brian Boon, Kevin Hamil, Shawn Hamil, Kevin Cochran, Mark Rhine and Wayne Rhine. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Panko and Dennis Parrott and the members of the Tahlequah Chapter of the R.A.T.S.
