

Joy Benjamin, 77, of Brentwood, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. She was born on February 21, 1945 in Fayetteville to the late John and Prella Bailey. Joy graduated as a registered nurse from Sparks School of Nursing in 1966. She served as an R.N. at the Fayetteville City Hospital, Washington General Hospital, and the Washington Regional Medical Center until her retirement. She was a member of the Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville.
Joy supported all the school and church activities that involved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Joy considered herself blessed to work in her home and on the family farm to make it a delightful place for all of them to enjoy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Barry Bailey.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 14 at 4PM at the Center Street Church of Christ at 310 W. Center Street in Fayetteville. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Joy is survived by her husband Jerry, of the home; her daughter, Elisabeth Ann Sherer and her husband Stephen, of Brentwood; her son, Dr. Christopher Paul Benjamin and his wife Karen, of Fort Smith; her brother, Jerry Bailey of Brentwood; three sister-in-laws, Sally Bailey of West Fork, Donna Bailey of Brentwood and Ellen Hill of Vestal, New York; a brother-in-law, David Benjamin (and his wife Ann), of Vestal, New York; five grandchildren, Wyatt Benjamin (and his fiancé Teighlor Brewton) , Ethan Benjamin, Emily Vinson (and her husband Hunter Vinson), Natalie Wolfe (and her husband Zac Wolfe) and Benjamin Sherer; three great-grandchildren, Sable Mae Vinson, John Ellis Vinson and Olivia Joy Wolfe, along with ten nieces and nephews.
