

Larry graduated from Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He spent four years in the United States Air Force on a B36 crew. He married Catherine Sue Boyd and together they raised three sons, Phil , Greg, and Ed. Larry worked for 25 years in Human Resources at Whirlpool Manufacturing, which brought the family to Fort Smith in 1966.
An active volunteer and supporter of the community, Larry served on numerous boards and service clubs including: Rotary, where he was a former president, Noon Civics, the Planning Commission, the Airport Commission, Girls, Inc., FarmBureau, and the Alzheimer’s Association. He was a driving force in helping to open the Adult Day Center and spent numerous hours volunteering at the Fort Smith Public Library.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Sue, and son, Greg Devero. He is survived by his sister Jeanie Alaback, Tulsa, OK; his brother, Dick (Teddy) Devero, Oklahoma City, OK; his sons, Phil (Natalie) Devero, Dallas, Texas;Ed (Susan) Devero, Fort Smith; and his daughter-in-law, Megan Devero, Somerville, New Jersey. His grandchildren, Ryland Devero, Washington DC; Gretchen Devero, Amsterdam, Netherlands; Richard Devero, Dallas, TX; Grace Devero and Gabrielle Devero, Fort Smith;Chloe Devero and Caroline Devero, Sommerville, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rosary at 1:30 p.m. followed by funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. Services will be live-streamed via Facebook.com/edevero. Services are entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: David ArmBruster, Sandy Sanders, Dick Litzinger, Joe Langley, Morris Richardson, and Hank Needham.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to: Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club, Girls, Inc. or the Fort Smith Museum of History.
