

born May 6, 1930 in Williamstown, Vermont to Annette and Joseph Soucy.
He was retired from his 26 year career in the Fort Smith Public Schools. His positions include
Director of Federal Programs and Director of Public Compensatory Education as well as teacher
and principal. He made his life’s work educating and caring for children. He was a veteran of the
Korean War serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army Artillery.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was an honorable and generous
christian man.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Deloris; two daughters, Vicki Melton and husband Ron,
Colette Bushkuhl and husband David; three sons, Mark Soucy and wife Theresa, Andre Soucy,
Noel Soucy and wife Beverly all of Fort Smith; brother, Maurice and wife Sonia of Barre,
Vermont. He was Pepere to Carly Flanagan; Dr. Rachel Fiori and husband Sammy; Bryan,
Andrew, Katie, and Daniel Bushkuhl; Michelle Ketchum and Michael Soucy; Alex, Emily and
Andre Soucy; and Kyle and Evan Soucy; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Rhea Brenner and Anne Gregoire.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23 at Fentress Funeral Home followed by a graveside
service at Holy Cross Cemetery. Services will officiated by his friend, Deacon John Burns.
