

Martha Parker Copeland, of Fort Smith passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was born in Paris, AR on February 15, 1925 to the late George W. and Minnie Bowles Parker. Martha was a member of Central Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion “Andy” Copeland, a son-in-law, Charles Lane, Jr., four sisters Ethel Hice, Agnes Beavers, Mildred Yocum and Jean Wilson, and three brothers, Sam “Curly” Parker, Ira Parker, and Curtis Parker. She was known as “Gigi” or Great Grandmother to her great grandchildren and “Grandma Martha” to the children she had cared for. She taught them to garden and she made beautiful dolls of all kind for them.
Martha loved the Lord and was full of Wisdom and Compassion that she so lovingly shared with others. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be remembered by her family and friends as a GRAND LADY who gave her all to others. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Phip Sams officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home She is survived by two daughters, Martha Anne Matlock and husband Marvin and Alice Lane Rowe and husband Austin and one son Dan Hasty all of Fort Smith. She is also survived by six grandchildren Marvina Matlock Hart, Greg Matlock, Chad Lane, and Danielle Hasty all of Fort Smith and by Christa Lane Siems of Scott, AR, William Hasty of Chicago, IL, and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Greg Matlock, Chad Lane, William Hasty, Victor Hart, Marty Siems, and Lane Siems. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Ibison, Garret Ibison, Roger Cates, Nick Borengasser, Tyler Neal and all the special children for whom she cared. Family will receive friends from Monday, August 20, 2012, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Edwards Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Peachtree Hospice, 2910 Jenny Lind, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
