Sister Mary Patricia O'Brien R.S.M.

Sr. Mary Patricia O’Brien, RSM formerly known as Sr. Mary Euphrasia, who lived at McAuley Convent in Barling, AR died October 12, 2013. She was born July 19, 1921, in Walco, OK. She entered into the Sisters of Mercy September 6, 1939 in St. Louis, MO and made her final profession of final vows l August 16, 1945. She graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield MO and then received her BSN from St. Mary’s Xavier in KS in 1953. Sr. Patricia’s ministry was in Nursing Administration and education from 1942-1971 in AR, OK, MO and LA and Pastoral Care from 1971-2001. She had a great respect and love for all those she served and met throughout her life. Sr. Patricia retired to McAuley Convent in Barling, AR in 2001.

Sister Mary Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Ruth O’Brien and two Sisters; Mary Jane Dean and Gerry Trimp. She is survived by: Several nieces and nephews and her Sister of Mercy Community. Rosary will be Wednesday October 16, 2013 at 1:30pm followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00pm at McAuley Convent Chapel in Barling AR .Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
