Mary Ann Revelle

Mary Ann Revelle, 82, of Fort Smith, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 in Fort Smith. She was born May 13, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, the only child of Oliver Lester and Anne Lucy Wecka Whitworth. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Smith for 50 years, and was active in the music ministry for most of those years. She played organ and piano for various church functions, and accompanied a variety of church choirs, from children to senior adults, on piano. She and Martha McAlister regularly played organ/piano duets, and became known affectionately as “Mary and Martha.” She also played in the handbell choir at First Baptist for about 40 years. She was a retired employee of Plastics Research and Development Corporation (PRADCO). In addition, she was a life-long fan of Cardinals baseball, a superb baker of apple pies, proud collector of a beloved set of wind-up music boxes, and in recent years had developed a fascination with butterflies and the Monarch butterfly migration. Mary Ann loved to laugh. And she loved making others laugh, to the delight of the many nurses and aides who met her in recent months. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Revelle of Fayetteville, AR and Beth Revelle of Fort Smith; two sons, Don and wife Debbie Revelle of Bentonville, AR and Daryl and wife Suzanne Revelle of Springdale, AR; former husband and children’s father, Donleigh Revelle, Sr.; and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Andrew Revelle. Funeral service will be Friday, December 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM in First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Carl Riggins, George McAlister, Don, Daryl, and Jonathan Revelle and Alex Yahola. The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM.
