

Mildred Theresa (Hollohan) Rideout, of Fort Smith died on Wednesday December 13, 2017. She was born on May 21, 1938 in Everett, Mass. Her mother passed away when she was 9 years old, so from a young age she was a motherly figure for her siblings and later on to her own children and the neighborhood kids. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her “whoopie pies” were loved by many. Her favorite son, Oscar (the family dog) even enjoyed her spaghetti. She taught reading in the Fort Smith school system. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Arthur Rideout Sr. and her parents Peter J. and Marion Hollohan, and brother Edward Hollohan. She is survived by three sons Arthur Rideout Jr. and wife Gretchen of Fort Smith, Ted Rideout and wife Becky of Greeneville, TN., and Gregory Rideout and wife Kelley of Little Rock; siblings John Hollohan, Patricia Hollohan, Rita Walsh, and Kathleen Miller all of Boston, Mass.; and eight grandchildren, Emily, Meredith (Woosley), Andrew, Bayley, Hayley, Nick, Kate and Carter Rideout.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial following at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rosary at 6 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Arthur, Andrew, Ted, Nick, Greg and Carter Rideout.
