Ola Mae Waters, 90, of Fort Smith, passed away on January 27, 2022. She was born on December 19, 1931 in Spiro, OK to Eual David Goins and Mamie Alice Bell Goins. She had a Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern State University. Ola retired after more than 40 years with the public school system. She was a member of the Class Room Teachers of Fort Smith and the Retired Teachers Association.
Ola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers (Archie, Billy, and Harold Goins) and one son, Ray L. Walker.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Lynn Walker Dahlem of Fort Smith and Stepdaughter Shirley Ann Sharp of Tyler, TX, her grandchildren, (Stacy Hanna, William Shawn Walker, Nathan Hanna, Colin Seiter, and Skylar Crane); six great grandchildren, (Cassy Walker, Taylor Walker Abby Hanna, Alexa Jimenez, Jake Hanna and Liam Walker); numerous nieces, nephews, extended friends and family.
Memorial service will be 10 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Smith National Cemetery.
