Pansy Brooks Ammons

Pansy retired after many years as an Information Hostess at Sparks Hospital. To say Pansy was active in her church, Evangel Temple would be understated. She was president of the Women’s Ministry at Evangel Temple, as well as Waldron Assembly of God. She taught the toddler Sunday school class for over 20 years and she was active in the Prayer Chain Ministry. Pansy freely volunteered her time with many services at Evangel Temple. She was even voted Mother of the Year and Grandmother of the Year. Pansy’s life was her ministry. Meeting Pansy for the first time was quickly followed with questions about your relationship with Jesus. She witnessed to many around the world with her hand made cross stitch crosses.

Pansy is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Brooks Gann and her husband Ted of Fort Smith; daughter, Mae Brooks Harris and her husband, the late C. Wayne Harris of Fort Smith; son-in-law, Leamon Farrior, widower of daughter Rebecca Ann Brooks Farrior of Fort Smith; daughter, Linda Brooks Bentley and her husband Jim of Visalia, California; daughter-in-law, Kay Brooks, widow of son Ret. Captain Robert Michael Brooks of Fort Smith; Cindy Brooks Miller and her husband Monty of Kansas City, Missouri; son, Ricky Brooks and his wife Debbie of Huntington; son, Ronnie Brooks and his wife Lisa of Fort Smith; three step daughters, Mary Jane Topolski of Mansfield, Bonnie Christenson and her husband Richard of Waldron and Rhonda Ammons of Mansfield; her brother, Jim Struble of Lakewood, California; a dear cousin, Laverne Struble of Branson, Missouri, as well as being blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Pansy also leaves behind her close friends, Lillie Lewis, Loretta Hutchens, Patsy Dotson, Jeannie Justice and a special care giver, Brandi Stanford. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Robert Brooks and Buck Ammons, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services for Pansy will be 1:00pm Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God with Reverend Don Hutchings officiating. Burial will follow at Nixon Cemetery in Charleston. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm Monday, June 29, 2015 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Gann, David Major, Matt Brooks, Eric Brooks, Ricky Ray Brooks, Jr. Kyle Brooks, Jamie Brooks, and Mark Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Harris, Daryl Dirkx, Jeff Brooks, Cade Brooks, her son-in-laws, and grandson-in-laws.
