Phil A. Bronkhorst, 71 of Lavaca, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his home. He was born July 13, 1946 in Holland, MI to the late Albert and Elma Bronkhorst. He started working at a very young age at his uncle’s welding shop. He graduated from Holland High School and continued with his education at Michigan State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He then volunteered for service in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer during the Vietnam War. Upon his return he went back to Central Michigan University to complete his MBA. He was a Christian, retired bank President and a member of the American Legion. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and loved to travel.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, May 18, 2018 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be 12:00 Noon at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
Phil is survived by his wife Angela of the home, his daughter Heather Ann Magers, DDS and her husband David of Grandview, TX, his sister Lynda Hoffman of Holland, MI, three grandchildren; Abby, Allie, and Zane Magers, his niece, Stacey Hoffman of Virginia, his nephew Chad Hoffman of Holland, MI, and his step-son Dimitri Potts of Dallas, TX,.
Pallbearers will be David Magers, Chad Hoffman, Scott Gleason, Marcus Beard, Steve Moore, Paul Post and Ron Chronister.
