

On December 6, 2012, Robert Paul Hughes, III, 53, lost his long battle with brain cancer. He quietly passed from this life in his home, comforted by his family with help from Hospice. He was born September 22, 1959, in Baltimore, MD to Dr. Robert and Mary Jo Hughes. He is survived by his parents and three bothers, Joe Hughes, John Hughes, and David Hughes and wife Shana; three nephews, Austin Hughes, Dalton Thomas and Logan Thomas, all of Fort Smith.
He was a graduate of Northside High School, attended Tulane University, received his BA and Law degree from the University of Arkansas.
Paul practiced law as a Public Defender for Sebastian County. When not working on a case, he enjoyed shooting, hunting, scale model building, cars, and 4-wheeling his FJ40.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 10, 2012 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Armour of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Paul was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, December 9, 2012, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his brothers, Lee Watson, Jim Marschewski, and Tom Kemper. Honorary pallbearers will be James Pierce and John Joplin.
