My condolences go out to Mr. Hughes family & friends.  He was my public defender years ago & he helped me with a serious case he was very good at his job & he really cared unlike most & he was very honest. I moved away to better myself in life & I wanted to contact him just to let him know I bettered my life & remember the good advice he gave me & thank him again but instead found out of his passing it made me so sad but I will always remember him & the good advice he gave me will always stick with me may he rest in peace & thankyou Mr.Hughes.

As Lee said , Paul was a good friend to many of us,and I was also privileged to be his friend.He enjoyed life,embraced our profession with compassion and intellect(somewhat rare by my observation),and most importantly,valued and loved his Family.

Paul was a good friend, an excellent attorney, an excellent shot and a lot of fun to hang out with.  Our trips to the Oklahoma panhandle and even Colorado to go shooting were great fun. Paul will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues.

Paul and I became friends in college and kept our friendship through the years.  He was such fun--always saw the positive in everything.  Never have I met such a brilliant mind combined with a never wavering belief in the power of "doing".  "Even a werewolf deserves a fair trial, Ginger" he would tell me. He was highly respected as an attorney and, I know, I speak for many of his friends when I say....we will never forget our Paul.  Such a brave, kind, bright, and larger-than-life person.  You will always be in our hearts, Paul.

I've known Paul since he first started practicing law in Fort Smith.  He and I had a common interest in music, and we'd often tell each other of something new we'd discovered--talking about it like we were still in high school!  He's going to be missed by many.

I remember visiting Bob and Jo shortly after Paul was born, in Baltimore, Md.  I will never forget hearing Jo relate how she sometimes placed baby Paul in a dresser drawer for short periods, for lack of a better place to put
him, temporarily.  Paul's life was much too short, and he still had much to offer in life had he lived.  Life is unfair, and tragedy just seems to be always
hovering around and waiting.  My deepest sympathy goes out to the family for their loss of Paul, who was so dearly loved.
