

Ruby Madden Ray, 85, of Fort Smith, died January 16, 2015 in Fort Smith. She was born January 25, 1929 to Joseph S. and Bertha L. Carter in Bellville, AR. She was a retired Employment Security Division employee and a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church where she attended the Willing Workers Sunday School class. She was a mother, a grandmother, a wife, a teacher, a geneologist and a friend to all who knew her. She was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks and Atlanta Braves fan.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Lamar Madden, her second husband, Charles Ray, Sr. and her brothers Sheldon and Millard Carter and George Dickson.
She is survived by her one daughter Betty Funkhouser of Fort Smith, one step-daughter Diana Baker of Barling, one son Terry Madden and his wife Tammy of Boles, one step-son Charles H. Ray, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of Mount Ida, two sisters Flo Alverides of Burlington, CT and Maryan Cowles of East Granby, CT, thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Sunday, January 18th, 2015 from 2:00-4:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19th, 2015 at 10:00 am at Haven Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Neal Prock officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Earl Ladd Cemetery in Danville, AR under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
Pallbears will be Howard Funkhouser, Derek Madden, Andrew Madden, Dylan Madden, Ryan Goodner, and Ross Goodner.
