

Rudy Jorgensen, 91, of Fort Smith, passed from this life July 6, 2017 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born September 5, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, to William and Anna Sjoholm Jorgensen. Rudy retired, after 30 years, as a Major in the United States Army, having served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After leaving the Army he taught school for the Denver, Colorado Public School System. While in Denver he was active in the Masonic Lodge and the El Jebel Shrine. After relocating to Fort Smith, he was active in the Noon Exchanger Club and volunteered at St. Edwards Hospital. Rudy was a member at First Christian Church in Fort Smith.
Rudy is the widower of Kathryn (Kassie) Isaacs Jorgensen. He is survived by his brother, Herbert Jorgensen of Barre, Vermont; his nephew and caregiver, Keith Isaacs of Fort Smith, two nieces, Becky Flowers and husband Tim of Houston, Texas and Sue Jorgensen of Barre, Vermont. Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two sons, Richard and Kevin Jorgensen.
A graveside service, with U.S. Army Honors will be at 10:00am Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm Monday, July 10, 2017 at Edwards Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
