
Sister Mary Linus Oberkoetter, 89 of St. Scholastica passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012. Herman and Clara Quatmann Oberkoetter welcomed their third daughter; Rosemary Frances on December 23, 1922 in St. Louis, MO. Rosemary entered St. Scholastica Convent September 1, 1952 and received the name of Sister Mary Linus when she became a novice. She made her first profession of religious promises on June 24, 1955. After teaching primary grades for two years she felt she did not want to be a teacher. She did various jobs in the community and was monastery chauffeur for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sister Hermana Oberkoetter of St. Joseph Monastery, Tulsa, OK.
Vespers for the dead will be Tuesday, January 3rd at 7:30 PM at St. Scholastica Monastery Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 4th at 10:30 AM with Reverend David McKillian as presider. Burial will be in the Monastery Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by one sister Mary Oberkoetter and one brother Herman Oberkoetter who live in Ozark, AR, as well as her religious community.
