Waylon Jones

Waylon Jones, 84, of Roland, OK, passed away Friday, November 23, 2012, in Roland. He was born June 29, 1928 in Gravelly, AR to the late James Henry Jones and Sarah Emma Blaylock Jones. He was retired Sales Manager for Wards Ice Cream and owner/operator Jonesy’s Shaved Ice for 17 years. He was a member of the Roland Lions Club, American Legion Post #339 in Roland, Roland City Council for many years, Roland School Board for 25 years and the Roland Booster Club. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was known as the Woodman at Roland.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2012, at TheBOD.tv Church in Roland with Rev. Johnny Roberts officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at Roland City Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Lois, one daughter Stephanie Williams and husband Scott of Roland, two sons Kevin Jones and wife Kelly of Roland and Keith Jones of Roland, one sister Pauline Morrow of Tulsa and one grandson Reid Williams.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Kolp, Dwayne Roberts, Jackie Griffith, Todd Yates, Tim Yates, Reid Williams and Scott Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post #339.

The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
