Albert Eldon Bohnstedt

Albert married Janis L. Moore in 1958 and enjoyed their time together of nearly 65 earthly years before in passing in 2023. He was a dedicated servant of Jesus Christ. He and Janis expressed their interest in peace and justice issues at Plymouth Church (UCC) Fort Wayne. A dedicated father, he loved his children with love and wisdom.

Albert was a teacher and administrator in the Fort Wayne Community Schools for 33 years, started at Nebraska Elementary, promoted to principal at Hoagland Elementary and retired as principal of Bloomingdale Elementary. This was preceded by three years of teaching at the Etna Troy Elementary School in Whitley County. His career in education began at Manchester College and was followed by his MS at Indiana University. He was a member and Treasurer of Phi Delta Kappa, an education fraternity; and was a past President of Arch, Inc, the preservation group of Fort Wayne.

He is survived by his daughters Kristine Bohnstedt-Thorn (Barbara, deceased) of Fort Wayne; Kathleen (Kelly) Ashton of Frankton, Indiana; Lora (John) Ehrhardt of Fort Wayne; and Elizabeth (Mark) Resor of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bryan, Brad (Vanessa), Brady (Lauren) Ashton; Chelsea (Kyle) Carroll; Nicholas and Noel Resor; and Zachary (Maggie) Thorn. Surviving great-grandchildren include Eugenia (Mal Strubing) Cummins, Dryzten Thorn, Louraine and Leon Carroll, Augustus, Amelia and Arlington Ashton, Ayda and Abel Smith.

A celebration of life will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Plymouth Congregational Church 501 W. Berry Street, Fort Wayne, IN, with a gathering starting at 9:30 am. Committal and burial at Plymouth Congregational Church Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church or Cancer Services of NE. Indiana.
