He worked as a carpenter but had many skills. He always joked that he was a Jack of all trades and master of none. He had an infectious laugh, a keen sense of humor, and sought opportunities to play practical jokes on family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand and would give the shirt off his back for those he cared about. He lived life his way and no matter what challenges he faced he would always say he lived a good life.
Among survivors are a daughter, Bianca (Mike) Cummins of Noblesville; his mother, Benita Mata of Decatur; two grandsons, Samuel and Jackson Cummins; six brothers, Frank Mata of Michigan, Panfilo Mata Jr. of Ohio, Juan Mata of Michigan, Roberto Mata of Ohio, Danny Mata, of Fort Wayne and George (Gail) Mata of Avon; and two sisters, Anna Gase of Decatur and Marianne (Scott) Langston of Fort Wayne. He had many cousins and was “Tio” to 3 generations.
He was preceded in death by his father, Panfilo Mata; a sister Dolores “Lolly” Mata; and a brother Guadalupe Mata.
Albert wanted everyone to remember him in life, not mourn for him in death.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at https://www.mccombandsons.com for the Mata family.
